Manager - Tax Advisory

The Tax Advisory Manager has the primary responsibility of oversight over the Tax Advisory and Technical Accounting engagement work plans. As a leader of the firm, the Tax Advisory Manager will demonstrate excellent project management skills, client service, and positive coaching to the team members in developing technical and professional competency.

 

 

Core Responsibilities:

  • Advise clients within private and publicly traded companies on tax implications of business objectives, evaluate alternative actions, and identify appropriate methods of complying with tax laws and regulations as well as the accounting requirements of ASC 740.
  • Provide tax provision calculations for global or domestic interim and year-end income tax provisions.
  • Identify complex tax issues that may arise within the engagement, as well as opportunities for ancillary service offerings. Bring the issues along with possible solutions to the Director.
  • Maintain industry knowledge of tax policy and law changes to ensure the tax provision model reflects the appropriate tax provision calculation.
  • Prepare tax account reconciliations and assist in the validation of deferred taxes and tax payable balances.
  • Research complex tax and technical accounting topics to write and review basic tax technical memos and be able to write more complex tax technical accounting memos to support key tax accounting positions and the tax accounting implications of significant transactions.
  • Support internal teams by providing subject matter expertise as well as financial statement auditors.
  • Lead client calls to build and develop quality relationships with clients to ensure exceptional client service. Manage project status, develop project plans for accurate completion at the deliverable level.
  • Responsible for understanding engagement economics, leveraging the team appropriately, monitoring margin, scheduling, invoicing, etc. to meet time restraints and deadlines.
  • Leadership responsibilities include building in person connections with the team, peers and senior leaders in the Firm.
  • Oversee a managed book of $1,200,000 in revenue.
  • Support Firm initiatives and development opportunities.
  • Work to build relationships and promote collaboration in a hybrid environment.

 

Required Skills/Abilities:

  • Strong tax technical knowledge including ASC 740/FIN 48
  • Experience with Federal R&D credits preferred.
  • Thrives in an environment of changing priorities.
  • Interpersonal skills to interact in a team environment and foster client relationships.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Understand the services offered by the Firm, proactively look for opportunities to represent the Firm, rapidly grow the client base, and increase brand recognition across multiple markets.
  • Recognize opportunities for learning by pursuing challenging assignments and an insatiable desire to become an expert.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite with an emphasis on Excel skills and tax software skills.

 

Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or equivalent required.
  • Close to obtaining CPA Certification.
  • 6+ years of relative accounting experience; public accounting, a mixture of public and corporate tax, or professional services experience is highly preferred.
  • 3+ years of supervisory experience preferred.

 

Physical Requirements:

  • Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
  • Must be able to lift items up to 30 pounds at times.
  • Must be able to travel up to 25%.
